Our Story
Built From Two Generations of Hard Work
Martinez Landscaping did not start with a business plan. It started with a family that has been doing outdoor work for decades and a work ethic that goes back a long way.
Jose Martinez
Jose grew up on a ranch in rural Durango, Mexico, several hours outside the city. He was working by age 6, caring for animals, doing what needed to be done. When he was young, his grandfather gifted him a single calf. Jose raised it, built the herd up over the years, and eventually sold the livestock to save enough money to legally immigrate to the United States at 18.
He started on farms in California, then moved to Chicago, where he worked 14 to 16 hour days between cleaning and factory jobs while supporting family back home. Eventually Jose made his way to Wisconsin and spent the next 15 years in the landscaping industry: hardscaping, grading, drainage systems, retaining walls, lawn installation, and full outdoor construction. By the time he teamed up with Alex, he had seen just about every kind of job a Wisconsin property could throw at you.
Alex Martinez
Alex grew up watching his father work. At 14 he started mowing lawns in the neighborhood with one push mower under the name Martinez Lawn Mowing. Every dollar he made went back into better equipment. Over time the customers started asking for more: mulch beds, cleanups, grading, hardscaping. When Jose saw what Alex was building, he recognized the opportunity. They combined his 15 years of hands-on experience with Alex’s drive and customer base, and Martinez Landscaping was officially formed.
That is the company today. Family owned and operated. No subcontractors. The same values that got Jose from a ranch in Durango to a thriving business in Wisconsin are what show up on every job site we work.

Free On-Site Walkthrough
Alex or a team member comes to your property, walks it with you, and listens to what you want to accomplish. We look at what is there, what will hold up in Wisconsin soil and weather, and give you honest recommendations.

No. Martinez Landscaping does not use subcontractors on any job, large or small. Every person working on your property is a member of our crew, trained to our standards, and working under Alex. If a job is larger than our current schedule allows, we will tell you that upfront rather than bring in outside help.
Yes. We are fully licensed and insured in the state of Wisconsin. If you need documentation for your records before a job starts, just ask and we will provide it.
