How It Works

Simple Process, Polished Result

From consultation to cleanup, here’s what a bed installation looks like start to finish.

1

Design Consultation

We walk the property together, discuss your style and budget, and recommend the right materials and plants. We bring samples for mulch and stone so you can see them on-site.

2

Prep & Edge

Clean edges, remove old mulch or stone if needed, and install professional-grade landscape fabric before anything goes down.

3

Install Materials & Plants

Install your chosen mulch, stone, or planting with proper depth and coverage — no skimping on material, no gaps in the fabric.

4

Final Cleanup

Blow off all hardscape surfaces, haul away all debris, and leave the property looking sharp before we drive away.

FAQ

Common Questions About Landscape Beds

How often should mulch be replaced?+
We recommend refreshing mulch every 1–2 years for color and 2–3 inches of fresh coverage to maintain proper weed suppression and moisture retention. Spring is the most popular refresh window in Wisconsin, though fall installs are common too.
Is decorative stone better than mulch?+
Stone is permanent and zero-maintenance after install — no annual refresh needed, it won’t blow around, and it won’t break down. Mulch is more affordable upfront and benefits the soil as it decomposes. Both are great options — it depends on your maintenance preferences and budget.
Do you supply the materials or do I need to?+
We supply everything. Material cost is included in your written estimate — you won’t need to coordinate deliveries or pick anything up. We bring it all on the day of the install.
Can you remove old mulch before installing new?+
Yes. We offer mulch removal as an add-on when the existing layer is more than 3 inches deep. Excessive buildup traps moisture and can cause root problems — it’s worth removing before going on top with fresh material.
Do you install plants too or just mulch and stone?+
Both. Many customers do a full bed refresh — edging, fabric, stone or mulch, and new plantings — all in one visit. We can help with plant selection based on your sun exposure, soil type, and maintenance preferences.
